Want to do it with the GUI in Linux? Oh, what's your distro? What window manager is it running? Found documentation that tells you but the GUI doesn't match what you have? Shocker. Windows? I have to literally add "with powershell" or "with the command line" if I don't want a hundred results on how to do it with the GUI and there are ZERO variations of how it's done. The difference is that Linux basically expects you to drop to a command line once it's installed (nearly every documentation I've ever found talks about using the terminal and issuing commands). Both can be managed via a command line now. Office? Libre Office or OpenOffice is as close as they get and they aren't competitive.
None of the open source projects are even stable. If I want free, I'll use, but Photoshop is the leader. OBS is literally the only open source project I've ever used consistently because it's really easy to use and it seems to be the best on the market and is what every single person that uses screen recorders suggests using. On the other hand, I would argue that well run and popular OSS project outpace commercial products in many regards. Sure, I can find documentation on how to do something, but is it for my distribution (Debian based distros vs RPM based distros) and how old is it? If I'm using an update to date OS, there's a good chance the documentation was written a decade ago and no longer applies. Contrast that with the open source world. Whether it's office, Windows, Server, SQL, etc. I've never had a problem reading through Microsoft's documentation on a modern version of their software. Point 5 is especially amusing since 9/10 links that I click on, to Microsoft’s own documentation, are broken. If all of this stuff actually worked the way it's supposed to, most of us wouldn't have jobs. Kathy isn't dumb and printers are a pain.
They act like they want to yell, but they know their ass would get fired. Sure, this varies somewhat with the profession, but no one here is yelling at Kathy in accounting because her printer acted up again and she can't figure out what's wrong with it even though turning it off and on again usually fixes it without a problem. The biggest problem with this forum is that most of the people here don't seem to realize that we're, in part, paid to help people use their computers. What exactly are my words not conveying? Find an open source project besides OBS (I point that out below) that doesn't need some special commands issued for doing something necessary and that regular users won't have a hard time transitioning to.
I feel like you have a point somewhere, but your words aren’t exactly conveying it.
